AUSTIN, TX (May 13, 2020) — Indeed, the world’s number one job site, released today the results from its eighth weekly survey of US workers and their concerns with COVID-19. Over the course of the pulse survey, concerns with the challenges faced while working from home have remained steady, coming in at 35% this week. These concerns include – but are not limited to – productivity, meeting goals, and navigating technology challenges.
“Those who are able to work from home may be experiencing a number of different challenges in terms of productivity due to their individual living situations,” said Paul Wolfe, Indeed SVP of Human Resources. “Employees and managers should be empathetic with their team members as we navigate the everyday challenges of working from home. Many roles have never been done remotely prior to COVID-19, so there is a learning curve all around as we continue to adjust to these new working arrangements.”
Worries over contracting and spreading the virus have remained consistent for the last eight weeks as well. This week, 45% of respondents report being concerned with contracting COVID-19 at work, and 43% are worried about spreading the virus while working. These numbers have remained fairly steady over the course of the pulse survey, with 50% of respondents worried about contracting and 49% concerned with spreading the virus in the first week of survey results.
Concerns with the economic impacts on American workers appear to level out this week. 48% of respondents report worrying about taking a financial hit this week, which is the same rate of response from last week’s survey, and down 14 points from its peak at 62% in week one. This response has seen the largest decrease in reported concern over the course of the eight weeks of pulse surveys among American workers.

To understand the evolving needs and anxieties of employees and job seekers right now, Indeed will survey 1,000 American workers weekly to determine their most pressing concerns with their careers as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. New results will be released every Wednesday over the next several weeks.

To conduct this study, Indeed will survey 1,000 US respondents each week over a 24-hour period for ten consecutive weeks. The weekly survey results are from those respondents who report that they are currently employed.
