Week 2: Indeed Pulse Survey Shows American Workers Still Very Concerned About Finances During COVID-19 Pandemic

AUSTIN, TX (April 1, 2020) — Indeed, the world’s number one job site, released its second pulse survey today of how Americans workers are coping with the COVID-19 crisis. It found that finances are still a top concern for 35% of those surveyed. The survey results were tabulated before the $2 trillion stimulus bill was signed into law last Friday

“The recent, historic unemployment claims and the continuing of social distancing have led to feelings of uncertainty,” said Paul Wolfe, SVP of Global Human Resources at Indeed. “It will be interesting if the stimulus package eases the minds of American workers going forward.”

When asked which one area is most concerning right now, contracting the virus at work is the one that had a slight rise, from 21% to 22%.  Though millions of people are working from home, there are still many people whose jobs are considered essential services.

Caring for loved ones continues to be near the top of concerns for workers right now, however, this week there is a drop in concern (19% last week to 14% this week) about the challenges of working from home in general, suggesting that people are getting used to working remotely.

To understand the evolving needs and anxieties of employees and job seekers right now, Indeed will survey 1,000 American workers weekly to determine their most pressing concerns with their careers as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. New results will be released every Wednesday over the next several weeks.

Survey Methodology:

To conduct this study, Indeed will survey 1,000 US respondents each week over a 24-hour period for ten consecutive weeks. The weekly survey results are from those respondents who report that they are currently employed.
