AUSTIN, TX (April 29, 2020) — Indeed, the world’s number one job site, released its sixth pulse survey today to monitor COVID-19 concerns among American workers. Results from the Week 6 survey show that concerns are on a steady decline since the highest reports in COVID-19 worries in Week 3. The most dramatic decreases in concerns this week were: caring for loved ones (down six points from last week’s 50% to 44%), maintaining mental health (down to 44% from last week’s 50%), and balancing childcare arrangements (down six points from last week’s 35% to this week’s 29%). This is the first week that reports of concerns among US workers are lower than the reported concerns in the first week’s pulse survey results.
Most significantly, American workers’ concern with taking a financial hit are down 10% in Week 6 results in comparison to Week 1 results (down to 52% from 62%). Worries about the novel coronavirus itself are also slightly decreasing, with survey respondents indicating that 49% are concerned with spreading COVID-19 at work (down from last week’s 51%), and 47% of respondents worried about contracting the virus at work (down from last week’s 51%). Additionally, 44% of American workers report worrying about losing their job (down from its peak at 51% three weeks ago).
“There are some states beginning to slowly reopen and this may be providing a sense of relief for workers and their concerns,” said Indeed SVP of Human Resources, Paul Wolfe. “We know this is still a difficult time for many Americans, but it is encouraging to see that the concerns are lessening as the pandemic goes on.”
Last week, Indeed announced several new product features to help job seekers, including Virtual Hiring Events, remote work tag on jobs, and the ability to add #readytowork to your Indeed resume, indicating to employers that the job seeker is available to work any job now. You can learn more about these features here.
Indeed is highlighting companies each week with current job postings on the Indeed Career Guide’s COVID-19 Resource Page, at indeed.com/heretohelp. This week, jobs with healthcare, retail, and grocery companies like Taco Bell, Lowe’s, State Farm, Steak N Shake, Walgreens, McDonald’s, Fiesta Mart, and Genentech, were featured here.
To understand the evolving needs and anxieties of employees and job seekers right now, Indeed will survey 1,000 American workers weekly to determine their most pressing concerns with their careers as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. New results will be released every Wednesday over the next several weeks.
Full survey results below, including the previous two weeks of data. For more information on this survey, please contact Kristen Gehring at email@example.com. For tips and guides on handling work and job search during today’s pandemic, please see Indeed’s special COVID-19 Career Guide.
To conduct this study, Indeed will survey 1,000 US respondents each week over a 24-hour period for ten consecutive weeks. The weekly survey results are from those respondents who report that they are currently employed.
