AUSTIN, TX (April 22, 2020) — Indeed, the world’s number one job site, released its fifth pulse survey today of how Americans workers are coping with the COVID-19 crisis. Last week, we began to see a decline in the concerns related to COVID-19 as they relate to American’s and their work life. This week’s results indicate that concerns continue to decline among respondents, the largest of which being the worry of taking a financial hit (down seven points from 60% to 53%). This is the lowest percentage point of American workers who are concerned with their financial stability since the weekly pulse survey began five weeks ago.
Worries from employees about losing their job continue to decrease, from it’s peak at 51% in Week 3 of Indeed’s pulse survey results, to 48% in Week 4, and now 45% in Week 5. Additionally, 35% of US workers report concerns with challenges of working from home, down five percentage points from last week’s 40%. Results also show continued decreases in concern among workers with contracting COVID-19 in the workplace and caring for loved ones.
“While the impact of COVID-19 to the labor market has been harsh, worries may be on the decline since the initial shock because we’ve all been living with this for some time now. With all of the adjustments workers have experienced over the last few weeks, many may have accepted their new realities and/or started planning for what’s next,” said Paul Wolfe, SVP of Global Human Resources at Indeed. “Some states are starting to plan for reopening the economy, providing hope to many that recovery is on the horizon.”

To understand the evolving needs and anxieties of employees and job seekers right now, Indeed will survey 1,000 American workers weekly to determine their most pressing concerns with their careers as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. New results will be released every Wednesday over the next several weeks.

To conduct this study, Indeed will survey 1,000 US respondents each week over a 24-hour period for ten consecutive weeks. The weekly survey results are from those respondents who report that they are currently employed.
